The Mission of the Church

"And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."

What is the Mission of the Church?

The gospel of Jesus Christ helps us to understand just how much God loves the world (John 3:16). Jesus loved the world to the point of death. As followers of Jesus we want to love the world as well. We want to share our Father’s compassionate love right here in our own backyard and then throughout the world. This is our mission and to make this a reality we are committed to these three things: Sending, Supporting and Partnering.

How does Cornerstone implement this?

Sending - We are committed to sending missionaries into the fields of this world who will proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and make disciples in His name. A few years back we commissioned Luke and Julie to join with a gospel community in South Asia*. We committed to pray for them, assist them in their work and to support them. Please pray for this dear family as they seek to live faithful lives for Christ in the heart of South Asia.

Supporting - God has called us into ministry opportunities around the globe. A decade ago, we were brought into contact with Adam and Dora Szabados in Veszprem, Hungary. Adam had been called into the pastorate of a church that had been planted a few years before by one of our members during his ministry in Hungary. Our brother, Matt Hoekstra, introduced us to Adam, and ever since then, there has been regular contact and visits back and forth between our churches. Cornerstone committed to supporting a portion of the ministry in Hungary, and years later, the work in Hungary continues, and we joyfully support this man of God in his ministries in Veszprem, greater Hungary, and Europe.

Partnering - We are committed to partnering with other churches and like-minded ministries, who share our passion to make disciples among the nations. In 2012, we began working with The Haiti Collective and we are committed to bringing gospel transformation to Haiti through this partnership. Click here to learn more.
